Clerkenwell 2013

So, yesterday we visited Clerkenwell Design Week to see for ourselves what the manufacturers are bringing onto the market. We were impressed by what we saw.
First stop ‘Orangebox’ who never fail to make an impression with their beautiful and stylish range, they continue to launch diverse product collections which further expand their ‘Smartworking’ portfolio.
Calder is the most recent addition to their range of meeting chairs and a core product. Offering four design options, this diverse range is designed to complement their extensive task seating offer, where compatibility between various work areas is required.

The Campus sofa system is a soft seating collection that can be used as stand-alone sofas or as clever modular units combined to create dynamic layouts. It is suitable for use in busy workplaces, reception areas & educational spaces. The styling is edgy and quirky and the finish, as you would expect is of the highest standard.

Then we moved on to Boss Design whose showroom had taken on a Louis Vuiton edge with pretty pastel pinks, blues and greens all cleverly combined with greys. The result is a very brave and stunning new range called the ‘Soft Office Collection’ which comprises three individual designs which work together to create a fully flexible workplace including individual and collaborative workspaces. The accoustics and ‘noise control’ of these products are really impressive making them an ideal addition to an open plan space when looking to achieve informal work/meeting areas and what’s more they are all individually beautiful!

This year marks Boss’ 30 year anniversary and as such the showroom showcased a number of signature pieces including one of our favourites – The Albany Chair. They also had some of the most delicious cup cakes ever!

A drop off into Planet Partitioning and we were completely wowed by their Smartglass meeting room display – high tech privacy at the touch of a button. True innovation incorporating both style and substance.
Elite enticed us in by giving us bags of sweets and chocolates as it aims to be the Willy Wonka of Clerkenwell. Showcasing their new, practical and competitive ISIT task chair and Leola multi-purpose chair we look forward to dealing with them much more.
In stark contrast to the Chocolate Factory, we finished up at Connection’s showroom which totally embraced the theme of office and people wellbeing – linking design of workspaces with staff motivation and productivity. The organic juice bar provided refreshment while we explored their “Liquid Workspace” concept. This concept has been created out of Connection’s understanding of how innovative seating can connect numerous workspaces within a single place, making the working day more relaxed and more productive. The end result is very special and very clever, we look forward to incorporating this into many a ‘happy office’ of the future.

One day at Clerkenwell is never enough as there are so many more manufacturers that we would have loved to have seen but simply ran out of time. We finished the day inspired and ready to present what we had seen on to our customers.
