Metric’s high-flying ladies do it for GOSH!

On Sunday morning the Metric Ladies succeeded in their challenge of jumping out of an aeroplane at 10,000 feet and more importantly they all landed safely!

The weather started off as overcast which meant that start times were delayed whilst waiting for the cloud to clear. Once conditions were suitable to go ahead the jumps started. The girls were in the fourth plane so had even more time to wait and watch others before them. If they weren’t tense already they had to watch the noisy, propeller-driven plane take off and climb steeply to a height above the clouds and then watch as others landed – not all safely! In fact, just before climbing aboard they watched an experienced jumper land awkwardly and damage his legs as they impacted with the ground. Watching him hobble away was not the most encouraging sight.
When it was their turn though they all stepped up bravely. They jumped, fell and landed without injury. They all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and even went so far as to say that they would do it again (for a good cause!).
Talking of which, they have raised £1,515 to date for Great Ormond Street Hospital’s new respiratory unit. Well done ladies and thanks to all who supported them!
