The chair for a jolly back

The office chair. We sit at our desks on average eight hours a day, five days a week. Sitting down is what most of us do, most of the time and as a concequence back related injuries resulting from ‘sitting’ are estimated to cost business in excess of 3 million work days a year. Ergonomic chairs provide a solution for the office and manufacturers such as RH Chairs produce a number of models at affordable prices – but what if the classroom is your workplace and you are having to work at low heights all day? Primary teachers especially risk back problems because of their need to crouch, kneel and lean over.

The Jolly Back chair is designed by physiotherapist Lorna Taylor. Lorna’s research revealed that eight out of ten teachers had experienced back, neck, hip or knee pain. In fact, they regarded it as an inevitable part of their job.
The Jolly Back chair is a purpose designed low adult chair to ensure good posture and comfort. The chair has an angled wedge seat, adjustable back support and lockable wheels, so that it can be moved around a classroom easily whilst protecting teachers from adopting damaging postures. The chair is available in three sizes (heights) and is delivered in one piece so no need for assembly!
