Metric Launches its ‘Helping Hands’ project

We are launching our 2013 Helping Hands Project.

This year we aim to involve ourselves with a number of local charity projects with the aim of making a difference in the local community and beyond.
The first of these is ‘The Grassroots Project’. We are delighted to be involved with Grassroots, a new leisure and life skills facility for the special needs community catering for both children and adults. The Egham Centre opened officially in September 2012 and has been a success with schools and care centres alike. Its success has brought about new challenges for the charity especially the need to improve their administrative and educational centre. Currently the team work out of an open plan space which also accommodates the many groups who attend the centre which obviously causes numerous difficulties. The education centre has been kitted out with furniture and equipment which has been kindly donated but which is less than ideal for its purpose. To fix these issues and to improve the quality of the facility for its visitors Metric are completely refurbishing the area.
We are going to partition off a private office area where the admin team can work uninterrupted and provide bank desking for the computers. We are providing modular, reconfigurable seating so that by day groups can meet informally and by night they can accommodate social cinema clubs. We are fitting computer stations, coat racks and storage and supplying a large circular meeting table for group work. We will also be relaying the flooring and fitting new blinds to all the windows!! Over the coming weeks we will bring you news and updates as to how the project is coming along.
Also, on behalf of Great Ormond Street Hospital our team of Metric Ladies are going to jump out of a plane! The skydiving ladies, Jane Hart, Rachel Hart and Nicole Talbot are preparing themselves for the 10,000 ft jump at the beginning of May by keeping their minds occupied with as many other things as possible! In the meantime though there is important fundraising to be done. We would be grateful for any donations to this worthy cause.
